Final Reflection

This is the rose bud thron form I filled out for my final reflection
My big project

what is your most important learning from this project? why?

Thinking  what I am going the use first

What was the most important expenience for you in this project? why?

Think first
Because I didn't think what marite I am going to use.

Overall reflection

This photo is a photo of my overall reflection and claim with reasons and objectives.

What is my most important learning from this project, this would probably be how to recycle and reuse materials and items that we use everyday, making how we live more sustainable. I've learnt to appreciate time and fit in planning. Its challenge me to think outside the box and be resilient.
How do I think differently now than you did before? I think more and look at sustainability differently, I look at it in a positive view and think about reusing materials and recycling. I am definitely more aware of sustainability at home and in our community.

Final Reflection After the Show

I feel that the show was good because it was able to provoke different ideas and ways of doing things as we had different ways of making the costumes.

Overall I feel that the show went well, despite the setbacks of the different aspects that we had to overcome.

Next time, I would have started with more initiative than what I had started with for this Big Project, as I wasn't really sure what to expect.

What is your most important learning from this project?-  That something great can come from so little to work with. I apply this to the fact that we had unconventional materials to make the costumes from.

What was the most meaningful experience for you in this project?- Being able to design the way that the characters were to look in a more modern version of Wonderland.

How do you think differently than you did before? Why? - I think that this has made me feel differently about how costumes can be made because we were told to make the costumes, out of ordinary things like plastic bags or cardboard.

Final Reflection from the Show Experience

This is a photo of my overall experience at the show for the costumes and makeup.

Final Reflection - Petra

Overall Reflction

This is my reflection on the school show.

I chose this photo because I feel like the skirt stayed together and it was really pretty on stage and no fans feel off.

I chose this photo because it shows the dress in a different light. As well as seeing what it would be like outside.

Questions:
What is your most important learning from this project? Why?
That there will be changes to the design and what someone would want something different than what you make.

What is the most meaningful experience for you in this project? Why?
That there are deadlines that you need to get to and that you have to have everything ready even if you have to put in a lot of extra time and effort into it.

How do you think differently now than you did before? Why?
I think now that it is important to be sustainable and not just to think that everything will be all right without hard work.

Overall Reflection

Overall reflection

- The reason I chose this photo is because, these were the two characters I needed to create costumes for. The Frog and the Fish Footman. This photo reminds me of all the work I put in to those two costumes, right from the start.

What is your most important learning from this project?
-The most important learning from this project would be time management. How to use time wisely. How much time we needed to plan, then find materials, then actually creating the final costume. Also finishing things on time.

What was the most meaningful experience for you in this project?
-The most meaningful experience in this project would be the final show for Alice in Wonderland. This is because, you got to see all the costumes finished and everything come together. Also seeing the audience enjoy you hard work creating the costume.

How do you think differently now than you did before? Why?
- I now think differently with, who to trust. Who to trust to get things done, who to trust to help you finish things, get materials and things like that. I personally thought I could trust many people but in reality they needed to do their own costumes and finish their own things.

Show time - Petra

After all the hard work and effort we put into the costumes and promotions of the show it's been really cool to see how it all turned out.
Some of the idea's that I first had for Alice and Mad Hatters costume didn't work out but we managed to find a way in which they all came together, whilst still showing some of the idea's.

I think our sustainability idea on Alice's costume looks really cool and gives her an effect that helps create her character as a 7yr old girl.

I'm really grateful to everyone who helped me and I'm looking forwards to next years show :)

Show experiences - Hannah

So yesterday we had our first show for the project out of four. The atmosphere was really exciting as everyone was preparing for the show. I helped out with a lot of hair. High ponytails, buns and a lot of teasing. It was a really cool experience.
It felt really good to see all the costumes come together after weeks of hard work. It gave everyone a sense of accomplishment. I am so excited for the next shows to come!

Costume Update

Hey everyone,

Today is show time, our production is running smoothly and all costumes and make-up is looking great. My costume is Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum and its going alright. I think I could have been a bit more organised when putting on enough makeup because they needed to have more rosey cheeks. So tonight I am going to check my actors/actresses to make sure they have everything they need and enough of it. Overall the show is going pretty well, not to many hickups and the costumes are looking great. Hopefully the next few nights go great as well.

Progress Reflection

Maariyah's Progress Reflection

What am I doing well?
I've finished my final sketches, I've figured out what materials I will use and have started my costumes for my frog and fish footman. I have started to use my own spare time to create my costume.

What could go better?

What I think could go better is finding all my materials faster. Also creating the fish costume. Another major thing that could go better is my time management, at the beginning i think I didn't use my time as much as I should but I've now have been using my time more wisely than before.

What questions do you know need to ask ?
How long will it take to finish the frog footman's jacket?
How I could keep all my materials recycled?
What time do I have free that I can use to create my costumes?

Progress Reflection

What is going well?
Being able to plan and think about what we can use to make our costumes out of, as well as starting to make the costumes out of recycled materials.

What could go better?
Using our time more wisely, in order to be able to make the costumes faster, as we have a deadline inn a few weeks.

What have you started/completed?
We have started with the Queen of Hearts, we have just started to make a panel for her dress, which is made from old plastic bags that  have been sewed together. How we will use this in the costume is  by layering the panels of bags that we have sewn together to get the full effect.

What questions do we need to ask about this?
How are we going to be able to finish all of our costumes on time?
What items are we going to need to make the costumes?
How will we manage ourselves effectively, so that we can make all of the costumes?

Progress Reflection - Petra

1. What is going well? What could go better?
Something that I think is going well is trying to work with others to create the best idea's that we can. I think something that could go better would be to try and create different and more creative design ideas so that we can get started on making the costumes as soon as possible.

2. What have you started? Completed? Next to do?
So far the things that we have started are the indepth planning and desinging of the costumes. Trying to figure out the different materials that we can use and trying to find ways to put them together to show and represent sustainability. Next we need to get more into the practical making of the costumes and start to put things together so that we get a finsihed product.

3. What questopns have you asked, answered, and now need to pursue?
Questions that I have asked have been more around how we can use resources the best possible way to create a good effect for people watching the final show and to show resourcefulness. I have talked to my peers, to Danielle, to my parents and then called some people outside of school to ask for their help in finding resources and creating cool and inspiring idea's. I now need to follow up with people to check on how things are going and get feedback for the different idea's that I have to then refine to make the idea's better.

Week 3 Georgia

We have finalized the costume for Alice and we got the 7 year old girls to let them have an input in the costumes. Things that could have gone better is that we could have spent more time on the mad hatter as we are a little behind on him/her. We probably should have already nearly finished the mad hatter by now but we've spent so much time worrying about Alice that we just haven't come around to it. We had to ask the 7 year olds what kind of taste in cloths they like and we got some different but very clear answers

Progress Reflection

Hey everyone,

Today in big projects we are reflecting on our costume in this big project by answering the following questions.

What is going well?
My planning is going well because I have a good idea about what I want Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum's costumes to look like. I have gathered materials  for both costumes and I am starting to put together the costumes.

What could go better?
I think I should focus more on my costume than others first before I help others so I know I can finish the costumes before the deadline.

What have I started? Completed? Need to do next?
I have started to make the tops for my characters, so I have gathered the materials and I now need to use the stencils I have created to make the letters of DUM and DEE in white fabric, and then sew the letters onto the tops. I also need to make flax skirts for my characters, so I need to find flax and start weaving. My characters are wearing beanies with DUM and DEE on it also so I am going to look for cheap beanies or ask the actors/actresses if they have any.

What questions have you asked, answered, and need to pursue?
I have asked for help with creating and designing my costumes, I need to ask for more help when I get closer to the deadline so I can finish on time.

Progress Reflection

Progress Reflection 28/10/15

What is going well?
I think that I am going well with collecting the materials that I need for the costume. Also I made lots of progress last week so I am doing well.

What could go better?
I think I need to decide how to make the top of the dress and I haven't done well with that.

What have you started? Completed? Need to do next?
I have started to make the bottom of the dress. I still need to finish making the fans for it and making the shell of the bottom of the dress. Also the top of the dress.

What questions have you asked, answers and now need to pursue?
The questions that I have asked is how will I make this dress look good for two people who are different dress sizes. Also how will I make this top that I am thinking of will look nice on both of the people. So I now need to think of  a different why the top of the dress will look.

Reflection

Hey everyone,

Today we were asked to answer theses questions!

1. what is going well and what could go better
So far everything is going well I have almost finished my costume. The things that aren't going well is that I can't find a plain white long sleeve top.

2. What have you started? completed? Need to do next?
So far I have started putting together things. And the next thing I need to do is find the remaining things.

3. What questions have you asked, Answered and now need to pursue?
The questions I now need to ask is, How long do I have and How am I going to complete this!

Progress Report

What is going well?

I have finally got a design that I am happy with and am getting ready to start creating. It has taken me a while to get to this stage so I am very happy to be there now.

What could go better?

I have been a bit slow with getting my design ideas together so I am a little bit behind with the creating aspect. I still need to work out how to gather my resources for the costume.

What have you started, completed, need to do?

I have completed the design idea and prototype/model for it. I have started sourcing materials but I need to collect the cardboard boxes I have asked to be put aside for me to use. I need to start the actual making of the costume.

What questions have you asked, answered and now need to pursue?

I have asked all the questions about my costume design so that I know it is going to work out. I think all of these questions were answered. I need to ask questions to myself about how to make this costume very sustainable. I also need to ask guestions to others about how I can source materials and if they can help me.

Reflection

Reflection

Today for big Projects we started off by playing an activity where we had 12 min to find something recycled around the school then create something with it to put somewhere in our costumes. I found tissues and used them to create a flowers.

I successfully finished my final sketches for my costumes that I started drawing today. What I need to start doing next is to figure out what materials I will be using and where and I can get them.

Today we worked on Filling out our big project planning sheet.

How am I going? - Petra

I think that some of my weaknesses at the moment is once I have an idea in my head its hard to try ad think of something else. This has been showen with the idea of Alice and how we have been asked to change our design but I now can't think of anything that is too different form our original idea.

One of my strengths at the moment would be my ability to stay on task. Even though it is all very stressful I stay on task and keep working on what we are doing at the time. I belive that this is really important as it means that work gets done and we don't fall behind with what we are doing.

Planning Sheet

Week 1 - Term 4

This week we completed our planning doc and set some dates for when we want things finished.
Our costume ideas we havent finished yet as we have been told by the costumers that they would like the costume to represent a 7 year old girl.
Below is a plan of something that we would like to look further at in terms of costumes for Alice.

For our Mad Hatter idea we have yet to finalise our designs and are planning to get that finished next week so we can then go and find material to start to create the costumes.

Here is the planning doc:

Week 10 Reflection

Week 10 Reflection

This week we created other ideas about how we could make the costumes look like and how we could make the ideas that we had different. We also had a chance to look in the costume room to see what kind of costumes that they have in there and to see if we could use some of them into our costumes.
I had a look at the card dance for the show. We found out that someone has to make 21 card costumes out of nothing.

Tuesday 22 September 2015

Hannah Week 10

This week, we finalised our designs for the costumes. We then did a variety of different tasks to refine them and push ourselves to be more sustainable with the costumes. My group are in charge of the Caterpiller, Cheshire Cat, Frog footmen and Fish footmen costumes. I however, am focusing on doing the caterpiller costume. This is a design I came up with:

To refine it, Danielle gave each of the groups a sheet called SCAMPER. This stands for:
  • Substitute
  • Combine
  • Adapt
  • Modify
  • Put to another use
  • Eliminate
  • Reverse
We had to change our design seven times. One different design for each of the ideas. Here are my ideas:

After doing this activity, I feel very confident about my idea and I am excited to get started creating it.

Week 10- final design ideas Danica

NATALIE - WEEK 10

This week we have been refining our ideas. I have made a final decision as to what I would like but I have not yet talked to the people playing the character's I am doing the costume's for.

I am really not good at drawing but I just wrote on the sign so you can understand what I drew .

Thanks for reading this week!

Natalie

Costume designs for the queen, knave, king, and cards

Today we were refining our costume ideas for the queen of hearts, king of hearts, knave and all of the cards. We had loads of different ideas but they have all been put into one costume. Here are the sketches:

Petra and Gerogia Week 10

This week we were creating a final draft to do some more work on and refine further. We worked on some ideas for Alice and the Mad Hatter which I think went really well today and we put together some more creative and intresting concepts.

Alice - we need to try and move away from the blue and white innocent girl and make her more interesting and different.

Mad Hatter - we need to think of a boy and try to adapt our ideas to suit the new character we have been given.

Week 10 - Costumes

This week, I have adapted, modified and substituted my sketch idea to make my costumes more sustainable in our community.
I am specifically focusing on the characters Mock Turtle and Gryphon but as a group we are also doing the Door mouse and mouse.
Making our ideas more sustainable and efficient overall.

SARAH - WEEK 10

Hey everyone,

This week in big project I have been finalizing my drawings of my costumes. I am creating costumes for Tweedle - Dum and Tweedle - Dee, my idea is that they are hippy's so they are going to be wearing, beanie with their name on eg. Dum or Dee, Flower chain, Dreadlocks, Flax skirt, and an All Blacks jersey. This is showing New Zealand because of the flax skirts and the All Black's tops.

Mouse and dormouse designs

Reflection- we have been finishing off the designs of the costumes and creating a final draft for the alice in wonderland production. We have looked inside the costume room for different things that we could use/add to the costumes and refined our designs to make them better.

16/09 reflection

Hey everyone,

This weeks big project has been really fun. So far I have improved my drawing skills. At first they were really bad and were holding me back from what I could do. Next week I am going to finalize my finished design. Next week I will concentrate more and ask for help.

Tuesday 15 September 2015

Hannah

This week, I have learnt how to be creative and come up with innovative sketches. I have been finding this very hard because we have to revolve the ideas around the concept of sustainability. This creates a harder task when it comes to creating the costumes. For example, instead of sewing together a lot of circles to make the ned of a caterpiller, you can use old chinese paper lanturns and paint over them or something. I have learnt how to be resourceful and creative.

I think I did a good job at grasping the concept of making the costumes sustainable. I believe that I was really thinking about using any resources I can to make a successful costume. An example of this is how I used umbrellas to make a costume for a caterpiller. I think this was very creative because most people do not use umbrellas in a costume for a caterpiller.
I think I need to improve on not overthinking the whole design process. I think that I was overthinking the whole thing because I was trying to be as sustaiable as I could and that I was thinking too hard about sustainability and not enough about actually designing costumes.

Next week I am hoping to start physically making the costumes or at least starting to get resources together.
