Week 10 Reflection

Week 10 Reflection

This week we created other ideas about how we could make the costumes look like and how we could make the ideas that we had different. We also had a chance to look in the costume room to see what kind of costumes that they have in there and to see if we could use some of them into our costumes.
I had a look at the card dance for the show. We found out that someone has to make 21 card costumes out of nothing.

Hannah Week 10

This week, we finalised our designs for the costumes. We then did a variety of different tasks to refine them and push ourselves to be more sustainable with the costumes. My group are in charge of the Caterpiller, Cheshire Cat, Frog footmen and Fish footmen costumes. I however, am focusing on doing the caterpiller costume. This is a design I came up with:

To refine it, Danielle gave each of the groups a sheet called SCAMPER. This stands for:
  • Substitute
  • Combine
  • Adapt
  • Modify
  • Put to another use
  • Eliminate
  • Reverse
We had to change our design seven times. One different design for each of the ideas. Here are my ideas:

After doing this activity, I feel very confident about my idea and I am excited to get started creating it.

Week 10- final design ideas Danica

NATALIE - WEEK 10

This week we have been refining our ideas. I have made a final decision as to what I would like but I have not yet talked to the people playing the character's I am doing the costume's for.

I am really not good at drawing but I just wrote on the sign so you can understand what I drew .

Thanks for reading this week!

Costume designs for the queen, knave, king, and cards

Today we were refining our costume ideas for the queen of hearts, king of hearts, knave and all of the cards. We had loads of different ideas but they have all been put into one costume. Here are the sketches:

Petra and Gerogia Week 10

This week we were creating a final draft to do some more work on and refine further. We worked on some ideas for Alice and the Mad Hatter which I think went really well today and we put together some more creative and intresting concepts.

Alice - we need to try and move away from the blue and white innocent girl and make her more interesting and different.

Mad Hatter - we need to think of a boy and try to adapt our ideas to suit the new character we have been given.

Week 10 - Costumes

This week, I have adapted, modified and substituted my sketch idea to make my costumes more sustainable in our community.
I am specifically focusing on the characters Mock Turtle and Gryphon but as a group we are also doing the Door mouse and mouse.
Making our ideas more sustainable and efficient overall.

SARAH - WEEK 10

Hey everyone,

This week in big project I have been finalizing my drawings of my costumes. I am creating costumes for Tweedle - Dum and Tweedle - Dee, my idea is that they are hippy's so they are going to be wearing, beanie with their name on eg. Dum or Dee, Flower chain, Dreadlocks, Flax skirt, and an All Blacks jersey. This is showing New Zealand because of the flax skirts and the All Black's tops.

Mouse and dormouse designs

Reflection- we have been finishing off the designs of the costumes and creating a final draft for the alice in wonderland production. We have looked inside the costume room for different things that we could use/add to the costumes and refined our designs to make them better.

16/09 reflection

Hey everyone,

This weeks big project has been really fun. So far I have improved my drawing skills. At first they were really bad and were holding me back from what I could do. Next week I am going to finalize my finished design. Next week I will concentrate more and ask for help.

Hannah

This week, I have learnt how to be creative and come up with innovative sketches. I have been finding this very hard because we have to revolve the ideas around the concept of sustainability. This creates a harder task when it comes to creating the costumes. For example, instead of sewing together a lot of circles to make the ned of a caterpiller, you can use old chinese paper lanturns and paint over them or something. I have learnt how to be resourceful and creative.

I think I did a good job at grasping the concept of making the costumes sustainable. I believe that I was really thinking about using any resources I can to make a successful costume. An example of this is how I used umbrellas to make a costume for a caterpiller. I think this was very creative because most people do not use umbrellas in a costume for a caterpiller.
I think I need to improve on not overthinking the whole design process. I think that I was overthinking the whole thing because I was trying to be as sustaiable as I could and that I was thinking too hard about sustainability and not enough about actually designing costumes.

Next week I am hoping to start physically making the costumes or at least starting to get resources together.

Cadence Barrack

What have I learnt so far?
I have learnt to think outside the box and every idea, even if its bad should be put down and brainstormed just in case it could lead to other ideas. Planning first helps give you a general view of what you need to do and helps when finalising ideas. I have extended my habits of Resilience and Adventurous especially when designing characters costumes that aren't the mains. I have had to be Resilient and Creative when coming up with sustainable costume ideas and not just the normal materials.

What has gone well?
I think that my creative sketch's have gone well and starting to brainstorm ideas including sustainability has also gone well. Coming up with questions and brainstorming all ideas no matter what their worth also went really well. I have successfully come up with at least two sustainable ideas for the Mock turtle and the Gryphon. I have been co operating with my team members well too.

Not so well?
Having a really clear time management structure for all sessions but apart from that everything is going well.

Next week?
I am hoping to get all my sketch's done and start designing and finalizing ideas.

16/09 Reflection

16/09 Reflection

What you have learnt so far?
I have learnt that it is hard to try to design a dress that you could make out of sustainable items.

What has gone well? Not well? Strengths/weakness
What has gone well for me this week was getting my idea for the white queen's costume and seeing what costumes are in the costume room. The thing that didn't go well for me was that I didn't know what I was supposed to do because I wasn't here last week.

What is on your todo list for next week?
My todo list for next week is
- to finish my sketches
- to talk to my group on our ideas about the costumes

What will you differently next week?
Ask people what to do and have an idea on what I would like for the costumes.

Reflection

I have learnt many things so far including what sustainability is, how to use sustainability when coming up with costume ideas and even different things about art. I think that making up costume ideas that involve sustainability has been quite challenging for me but I think That I have been improving. On my to do list for next week would be, because I have already come up with some ideas for costumes, to find out ways make it more sustainable. What I'll do differently next time would be try to be more creative with the designing of the costumes.

Reflection Week 9-

Today in Big Projects we finished our preliminary sketches of the Queen,King and Knave of Hearts and the 2,5,7 of spades. I think that this went well because we were able to design all of the characters and reflect on what we designed with our group members.

To Do-
Add to the drawings
find materials for the costumes.
