So yesterday we had our first show for the project out of four. The atmosphere was really exciting as everyone was preparing for the show. I helped out with a lot of hair. High ponytails, buns and a lot of teasing. It was a really cool experience.
It felt really good to see all the costumes come together after weeks of hard work. It gave everyone a sense of accomplishment. I am so excited for the next shows to come!

Progress Report
What is going well?
I have finally got a design that I am happy with and am getting ready to start creating. It has taken me a while to get to this stage so I am very happy to be there now.
What could go better?
I have been a bit slow with getting my design ideas together so I am a little bit behind with the creating aspect. I still need to work out how to gather my resources for the costume.
What have you started, completed, need to do?
I have completed the design idea and prototype/model for it. I have started sourcing materials but I need to collect the cardboard boxes I have asked to be put aside for me to use. I need to start the actual making of the costume.
What questions have you asked, answered and now need to pursue?
I have asked all the questions about my costume design so that I know it is going to work out. I think all of these questions were answered. I need to ask questions to myself about how to make this costume very sustainable. I also need to ask guestions to others about how I can source materials and if they can help me.

Hannah Week 10
This week, we finalised our designs for the costumes. We then did a variety of different tasks to refine them and push ourselves to be more sustainable with the costumes. My group are in charge of the Caterpiller, Cheshire Cat, Frog footmen and Fish footmen costumes. I however, am focusing on doing the caterpiller costume. This is a design I came up with:
After doing this activity, I feel very confident about my idea and I am excited to get started creating it.
To refine it, Danielle gave each of the groups a sheet called SCAMPER. This stands for:
- Substitute
- Combine
- Adapt
- Modify
- Put to another use
- Eliminate
- Reverse
We had to change our design seven times. One different design for each of the ideas. Here are my ideas:

Hannah
This week, I have learnt how to be creative and come up with innovative sketches. I have been finding this very hard because we have to revolve the ideas around the concept of sustainability. This creates a harder task when it comes to creating the costumes. For example, instead of sewing together a lot of circles to make the ned of a caterpiller, you can use old chinese paper lanturns and paint over them or something. I have learnt how to be resourceful and creative.
I think I did a good job at grasping the concept of making the costumes sustainable. I believe that I was really thinking about using any resources I can to make a successful costume. An example of this is how I used umbrellas to make a costume for a caterpiller. I think this was very creative because most people do not use umbrellas in a costume for a caterpiller.
I think I need to improve on not overthinking the whole design process. I think that I was overthinking the whole thing because I was trying to be as sustaiable as I could and that I was thinking too hard about sustainability and not enough about actually designing costumes.
Next week I am hoping to start physically making the costumes or at least starting to get resources together.

Week 2 and 3 Reflection
In the last few weeks we have been doing a lot of brainstorming around sustainability. There have been a variety of different brainstorms:
- How we can use sustainability in this project
- Any questions we want to know
- What Cultural, Enviroumental, Social, Economic sustainability is
These are some photos for evidence of my work:
I feel like I have learnt a lot about sustainability and how to use it in a costume context.
The thing that I found most difficult was trying to define what cultural sustaibability was. I knew what the word cultural meant and what sustainability meant but I found it hard to combine them and come up with a definition.
I am really looking forward to starting to design the costumes and get some great ideas together.

What Does Sustainability Mean to Me?
Sustainability...
Sustainability matters to me because it is destroying the world that we live in and we need to take action and stop it. Killing the environment, wildlife, plants and many other things on it.
We looked at some sad pictures of what our world looks like now of pollution, deorestation and animal cruelty. These really affected me and make me want to do something about it.
My big project goal I am working towards is just giving everything a go and being contributive even when I may not want to.
